We are proud to present a truly exceptional and historically significant automobile — the Ferrari 166 Panoramica Zagato (1949).
This car is far more than a rarity: it marks the very beginning of Ferrari’s coupé lineage and represents the first collaboration between Enzo Ferrari and Ugo Zagato, two icons who defined the golden age of Italian automotive design.

History and Provenance

The friendship between Enzo Ferrari and Ugo Zagato began in the pre-war era, during the days of Alfa Romeo Scuderia Ferrari, nearly two decades before the founding of Ferrari.
From this partnership emerged the visionary Ferrari 166 Panoramica, the very first Ferrari to feature a Zagato body — and the first closed coupé in the brand’s illustrious history.

Originally built for gentleman driver Antonio Stagnoli, the car competed in prestigious events such as the Coppa Intereuropa and Mille Miglia.

In 1950, at the owner’s request, the body was transformed into a barchetta, and the original Panoramica vanished from history.
Decades later, in 2007, Zagato, with the support of Ferrari Classiche, undertook the extraordinary mission to recreate this lost masterpiece.
Using a Ferrari 166 Vignale as the base, the car was reconstructed through photometric analysis and Ferrari archival blueprints, ensuring absolute authenticity.
